Amy Schumer Got Arrested for Protesting on Capitol Hill

Many Republicans and President Donald Trump have stood by Kavanaugh during the confirmation process, which is expected to come to a final vote in the Senate this weekend.

In a statement, U.S. Capitol Police communications director Eva Malecki said that at about 3:30 p.m., 293 people were arrested for unlawfully demonstrating.

Footage tweeted by Guardian columnist Holly Figueroa O'Reilly showed Schumer reply "yes" when asked by a police officer if she "wanted to get arrested".

Schumer appeared alongside Senator Kirsten Gillibrand - a Democrat from NY - on the steps of the Supreme Court this afternoon, and even spoke to the crowd.

Events on Capitol Hill were moving swiftly, in real-time, as an array of lawmakers, activists and sexual assault survivors by turns grabbed a megaphone from a makeshift podium outside America's highest court.

Asked to respond to the criticism of the probe levelled by Democratic senators, Sanders said: "We allowed the Federal Bureau of Investigation to do exactly what they do best". At Thursday's protest, Gillibrand called it a "cover for those who don't want to look at the truth".

The two, along with celebrities, such as Lena Dunham, and public officials, including Democratic Sens. Susan Collins, considered one of the key swing votes.

From comments like "put on a bra", surprisingly coming from a woman, and "Sorry I was focused on something else, can you say that again?".

The "I Feel Pretty" co-stars were among the 302 people police said they had arrested at a protest against the possible appointment of Brett Kavanaugh to the US Supreme Court. The group repeatedly chanted: "Susan Collins, we are your voters, Susan Collins, we are your voters!" "We see you Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and everyone else who told the truth no matter what happens we thank you we love you we are you". The crowd roared at the news that Senator Heidi Heitkamp, a Democrat facing an uphill re-election battle in conservative North Dakota, had announced her opposition to Kavanaugh.
