Andreas Pereira: 'Manchester United pumped up for Juventus clash'

Cristiano Ronaldo became the first player to score 400 goals in Europe's top five leagues as Juventus dropped points for the first time this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo spent six years at Manchester United and, when he returned to the club with Real Madrid in 2013, had a mixed night.

Instead, Genoa hit back through Daniel Bessa for a 1-1 draw which allowed Napoli to cut the deficit at the top of Serie A to four points with a 3-0 win at Udinese.

On Tuesday, they visit Manchester United in the Champions League (20:00 BST). "Genoa did well not to expose themselves, but these things shouldn't happen".

"We went from being frenetic to falling asleep and vice-versa".

"I think it'll be a good lesson for us, as this is a wake-up call, so everyone can remember that nothing is to be taken for granted".

Ronaldo's only outing against Mourinho's United was in the 2017 UEFA Super Cup, featuring for seven minutes as a substitute in Madrid's 2-1 win.

The Portuguese striker fired Juventus in front in the 18th minute after a communication mix-up by the Genoa defence.

That effort put Ronaldo 10 goals ahead of Lionel Messi's tally of 390 goals scored in Europe's main leagues.

He has not started a game for United since failing to impress during the club's last Champions League game - a poor 0-0 draw with Valencia at home.

Genoa had to wait until the 53rd minute for their first shot on target, and unsurprisingly it fell to Piatek, but his hopes of swelling his nine-goal Serie A haul were dashed when Juve keeper Wojciech Szczesny tipped his shot around the post.
