Wonder Woman 1984 Has Been Pushed Back 7 Months

With Wonder Woman 1984 moving back to 2020, the door has opened for the upcoming Terminator sequel to scoot up and take its place. But as you'd imagine, plenty of fans aren't too happy to hear the news, and weren't shy about expressing their feelings, either.

It seems as though maybe Warner Bros. just wanted to give Wonder Woman 1984, which has the potential to beat the huge success of the first film, more time to breathe.

Warner Bros. announced overnight that Wonder Woman 1984 will now open on June 5, 2020 - three years since the release of the first film, which made more than U.S. $820 million at the box office worldwide.

Gal Gadot on Monday announced that Wonder Woman 1984 has been postponed by seven months. The film is scheduled for release on November 1, 2019. The Flash's movie, with Ezra Miller in the starring role, had been rumored for a June 5, 2020 before production was recently delayed.

"Wonder Woman" was the highest-grossing film of summer 2017 with US$412.5 million (RM1.7 billion) at the United States box office, and US$821.8 million worldwide.

Wonder Woman was one of 2017's biggest success stories and received rave reviews from audiences and critics and became the highest-grossing live-action movie directed by a woman. We'll keep our eyes on the 2019 release date calendar as it invariably changes over the next few months, but one of these pictures might just blink first rather than go head to head.

WB also announced that Six Billion Dollar Man, which was set to arrive on that June 5 date, is now unset.

But here's a fun fact for you release date nerds: November 1 is the same weekend that the first Charlie's Angels movie, starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu, opened in 2000. Elizabeth Banks' Charlie's Angels reboot moved on the date as well, and the two films will now compete on the same opening weekend.
