‘MAGA bomber’ Cesar Sayac charged with mailing explosives and threatening ex-Presidents

Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, former VP Joe Biden, former Attorney General Eric Holder, Rep. Maxine Waters, former Central Intelligence Agency director James Brennan (in care of CNN) and billionaire Dem contributor George Soros.

But It wasn't always clear that such a break would come, at least not on Monday when the first package arrived: a pipe bomb delivered via mail to an estate in Bedford, New York, belonging to billionaire liberal activist George Soros.

Sayoc, who has NY ties and was born in Brooklyn, was arrested Friday in South Florida.

Sayoc is now facing charges of "transporting explosives across state lines, illegally mailing explosives, threatening former presidents and others, threatening interstate communications and assaulting federal officials", according to the Washington Post.

Cesar Sayoc, 56, of Aventura, Florida, is facing federal charges and could receive up to 48 years in prison if convicted.

"The judge looked at him, look at the prosecutor, and they saw this wasn't an individual who doesn't have that capacity and they put him on probation", Lowy said.

Sayoc faces multiple federal allegations, including making "threats against former presidents", in connection with the package bomb campaign.

The packages were mailed in manila envelopes with bubble wrap, and had a return address of "DEBBIE WASSERMAN SHULTZ", [sic] referring to the Florida congresswoman and former DNC chair, CNN reported.

The lawyer said Sayoc was a bodybuilder then, and displayed no political leanings except for plastering a vehicle he owned with Native American signs.

Trump's inflammatory rhetoric has been called into question following a series of pipe bombs sent to top Democrats and CNN by one of his ardent supporters, Caesar Sayoc, last week.

On Sunday, Steyer talked on CNN about the "political violence" that Trump and the Republican Party had created across the country.

He said other packages could still be en route to other recipients before urging people to be vigilant and report anything suspicious.

"Yet when a Bernie Sanders supporter tried to murder members of Congress. we did not use that heinous attempt at mass murder for political gain because that would have been wrong", Trump said, in an apparent reference to the shooting at a congressional baseball practice in Virginia a year ago.

The FBI said via its Twitter account that the recovered package was "similar in appearance to others" and confirms the announcement earlier in the day by CNN President Jeff Zucker, who said a suspicious parcel being sent to the network had been intercepted at an Atlanta post office. One of those bombs was mailed to CNN offices in NY.

All were sent through the Postal Service and intercepted before reaching their intended targets without exploding. "Law enforcement will be visiting those people to notify them, the source said".
