Mercedes-Benz CLA250 sedan revealed: More power from the baby 'Benz

The latest generation of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) with more than 40 extra functions was showcased today at the epicentre of modern invention, the Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas.

The CLA is the latest model to be revealed among Mercedes' all-new compact auto family, joining the A-Class hatch that is already on sale in Australia and the sedan and high-roofed B-Class hatch due to land in showrooms before the middle of the year. The new CLA is bigger too, measuring 4688mm long (+48mm), 1830mm wide (+53mm) and 1439mm tall (-2mm).

The CLA features the maker's new "Hey Mercedes" digital assistant.

H2, Mercedes-Benz sales volumes grew by 1.4%. The C-200 is build on the C-Class facelift which was launched in September 20, 2018 with single diesel engine.

With an extended wheelbase, there is also more interior space for passengers - but rear boot space has been cut by 10 litres from the previous generation to 460 litres.

We were impressed by the refinement, chassis, powertrain, and tech found in the new A-class, and the second-gen CLA looks to improve further on all of the A's strong points. The lower section is visually separated from the main body of the instrument cluster by a "trench", and it appears to "float" in front of the instrument cluster, an effect highlighted by ambient lighting. Now, with the new A-class sedan taking the lowest rung on the Benz totem pole, the brand is repositioning the CLA to be a sportier, more stylish, and more upscale compact offering-what it should have been from the beginning. "Coupled with new operating systems, it sets new benchmarks for the entire class", she added. Gesturing towards the rear-view mirror can also control the reading light. The MBUX is the most advanced in-house infotainment system which comes with active driver's interaction. The item list also includes Active Distance Assist Distronic, Active Emergency Stop Assist and Active Lane Change Assist.

"This is not the only new feature by which the CLA offers a great deal of automotive intelligence".

There should also be a number of high-performance AMG versions such as a 306 hp CLA 35 and a CLA 45, offered in either base 387 hp trim or a pumped-up 421 hp S variant.

No longer is it stumpy, dumpy, and weird; it has a mini-CLS look, albeit with front-wheel-drive proportions and more aggressive and angular design details.

Currently, the CLA class is available in the price range between Rs 31.72 lakh to Rs 36.99 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
