Ant McPartlin set to return to Britain's Got Talent this week

This Morning's Holly Willoughby also stepped into his role for I'm a Celebrity at the end of the year.

The news was revealed by Good Morning Britain showbiz correspondent Richard Arnold today.

Ant a year ago announced he'd be taking time out from presenting work after his involvement in a collision in south London while he was driving under the influence.

Ant McPartlin is making his much-anticipated return to work on Friday, when he will be reunited with his telly double Declan Donnelly for the first round of auditions on Britain's Got Talent.

After a year away from the spotlight, the 43-year-old will officially be back alongside Donnelly for this year's series.

In August, Ant said his recovery was going "very well" and that he had chose to take the rest of the year off, after discussing the situation with Dec and ITV.

"Can you believe its come around again?"

Dec added: 'Whilst I am obviously sad at the thought of being without my best friend in Australia this year, I am proud of the work Ant has been doing privately and I am fully supportive of his decision.

They have stiff competition though from Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, Bradley Walsh and Graham Norton.

Ant stepped down from presenting Saturday Night Takeaway following his arrest for drink-driving and returned to rehab.

In April Ant was fined £86,000 and given a 20-month driving ban after pleading guilty to drink driving.

In his personal life, Ant's divorce to wife of 12 years Lisa Armstrong was finalised in October, and the star has since found romance with her former PA and pal Anne-Marie Corbett.
