Solskjaer: "I'll remember managing Manchester United for the rest of my life"

Solskjaer:

Rashford marked his 150th appearance for Manchester United with a goal in their 2-1 win over Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

"That's why you know you've got to defend really well against them, and certainly not give away what I would regard as disappointing goals".

Solskjaer, whose in-form United are sixth and level on points with fifth-placed Arsenal, continued: "I used to be one of four strikers when we played with two".

Pascal Gross pulled one back but Solskjaer was still able to achieve the feat of becoming the first United manager to win his first six league games in charge. It is great working with him. "At times we did and it's a great three points". He's now calmed down in front of goal, he's very assured, he's practicing all the time - that's his technique but it's also a mindset. That was the first thing I said to him when I met him.

Paul Pogba scored a penalty midway through the first-half and Rashford doubled the home side's lead with a fine sole goal on his 150th appearance. "He had missed some chances and I said "no problem, you'll be alright, just settle down a little bit".

"It was backs to the wall when they scored but we still created chances and we are delighted with that win".

It was his fourth goal in four consecutive games, and it would turn out to be decisive, as Manchester United moved to within touching distance of the Premier League's top four.

"As long as you take one game at a time and prepare well we should go into any game as a winnable one. It's a challenge for us to get to where we as a club should be".

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer drew on the inspiration of Sir Alex Ferguson to insist that the team were capable of winning ten games on the bounce, after equalling the record of most successive Premier League wins for an incoming manager. There's loads more pressure at the bottom when I was with Cardiff. But the pressure is at a club like this, we want to win every single game we play'.

"At the moment I don't think we'll be bringing anybody in, you can never say no in case something happens between now and the window, but with regards to what I think we need at the moment, no I don't think that will be the case".
