Nowitzki, Wade added to rosters for All-Star Game

Dwyane Wade and Dirk Nowitzki will get one last moment of All-Star Game glory, as commissioner Adam Silver on Friday announced each will be a special roster addition.

Nowitzki and Wade will be selected in a new third round of the 2019 NBA All-Star Draft, adding a 13th active player to each roster.

"As a global celebration of basketball, our All-Star Game is an ideal setting to salute these first-class NBA champions and Finals MVPs", Silver said in a statement.

The Los Angeles Lakers' LeBron James and the Milwaukee Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo lead the list of 10 players - two guards and three frontcourt players from each conference - selected by fans, current NBA players and a media panel to start in the 2019 NBA All-Star Game. After the most recent win over Toronto Raptors, journalists asked Giannis about one of the most prominent young tennis stars Stefanos Tsitsipas and probably the second most famous sportsman from Greece at the moment. Team Giannis will be going up against Team LeBron, captained by LeBron James, on February 17 at Charlotte's Spectrum Center. Drafted fifth overall by the Heat in 2003, he immediately became a household name in Miami, especially after leading the franchise to a championship in just his third season. He was also named the 2011 Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP Award victor after leading the Mavericks to their first NBA championship.

The news of Middleton making his first All-Star appearance comes a week after he finished 11th among Eastern Conference frontcourt players to determine this year's All-Star starters. Nowitzki won the NBA MVP in 2006-07 and secured a Finals victory in 2011. Once the starters are announced, the reserve spots are chosen by the NBA's 30 coaches.

"And I'm glad I can share this opportunity with Dirk, one of the games greatest players, someone that I've had battles against".
