"Do you have anything else?" deputies asked the woman at one point, according to the post.

The two were found to have 41 three-stripe turtles in her auto, according to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office.

The man and woman explained that they had come from a local underpass, where they were trying to collect different reptiles, including frogs and snakes. She also had 41 3-stripe turtles in the vehicle.

The driver got a warning for the stop sign violation, but the deputy had to ask for more information. The alligator was about one foot long.

The sheriff's office shared the discovery on Facebook and Twitter.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission was then called to investigate.
