Apple to Preview New Software as It makes Big Transition

Apple to Preview New Software as It makes Big Transition

For the last couple of months, there have been reports of Apple reportedly planning to separate Music, TV, and Podcasts into different apps in the next version of macOS.

Apple may announce the end to iTunes - once lauded as the "world's best and easiest to use jukebox software" - on Monday, Bloomberg reported.

ITunes has been the main console for Apple devices on PCs and Macs for almost 20 years, but this year the firm is ready to shift away from the tool in favour of three separate Music, TV and Podcast apps, according to various reports citing sources familiar with the plans.

Responding to some pretty disgruntled iTunes fans on Twitter, Apple assured users that the music you've purchased in iTunes would still be available without an Apple Music membership. Apple debuted iTunes 16 years ago to sell and manage digital music for the iPod, which paved the way for the iPhone.

Speaking on stage at the tech giant's annual Worldwide Developer Conference, senior vice president of software engineering Craig Federighi said: "The future of iTunes is not one app, but three".

We're also expecting to hear about Apple's plans to make the iPad even more of a replacement for PCs than it has already been.

Leading the pack, Apple's main focus at WWDC is expected to be iOS 13, the latest incarnation of its mobile operating system.

Proceedings will kick-off at 6pm for UK Apple fans or 10am San Francisco time.

If you really want to try out the macOS 10.15 Catalina Developer Preview, and you're not now enrolled in Apple's Developer Program, then go to the Apple Developer Program enrollment webpage, which will show you everything you need to sign up.

For the first time the Apple watch will be getting its own App Store, finally allowing users to download apps straight from their wrists instead of having to go through the Watch app on their phones.

After more than 18 years of service, we are now seeing evidence that Apple is going to shut down its iTunes service.

The iOS 13 updates likely - There are always high expectations on the main operating system that runs most Apple devices, at least numerically.

Apple TV users can also watch the live stream using the Apple Events app in the set-top box.

The sixth version of the software running on the Apple Watch will also include a decibel meter to measure loud sounds and warn users about potential hearing damage.
