Man Utd bid for Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace

United faded in the bid to make the top four last season, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to need to make heavy strengthening to his ranks ahead of the new campaign, with the right-back area being one of his main priorities.

Manchester United have reportedly seen their opening offer for Crystal Palace's Aaron Wan Bissaka rejected.

The news comes after other claims this weekend that United had already submitted a 'substantial bid', so it seems likely that this story has legs.

According to Sky Sports, the Eagles want at least £60million for the right-back, who still has three years remaining on his contract.

Although initially starting out as a squad player, the England U21 global became a regular starter for the Premier League side in the 2018-19 season, making 39 appearances in all competitions.

United now possess the likes of Matteo Darmian, Diogo Dalot and Ashley Young for the right-back role but the former appears set to secure an exit this summer.

"It's confirmed!" Schira wrote on Twitter. "Manchester United want to close for Aaron Wan-Bissaka".

The 21-year-old made the second highest number of tackles (90) and interceptions (84) in the entire English top flight this season, and is now on global duty with the England U21 side.

The two veterans are now past their best and I think that it is time for Solskjaer to finally sign a natural fullback for the position of right back to strengthen the shaky back-line at Old Trafford.

Manchester City - on the hunt for a challenger to Kyle Walker - are also interested.

The Croydon-born star was named the club's player of the season in April after starring in 39 appearances in all competitions.
